HUGHES BAPTIST CHURCH, HUGHES ACT

In March 1994 our firm was selected in a limited competition to design the extensions to Hughes Baptist Church, comprising a large Auditorium, meeting rooms, a creche and offices, as well as extensive roadworks and landscaping. We embarked on a series of interviews and visits to each of the various youth and fellowship groups in the church, and then produced several design studies. These were presented to the congregation, and after a broad consensus was reached we developed Preliminary and Final Sketch Plans. The development of the design has involved numerous meetings with the Deacons, Building Committee and congregation, both at Sunday services and at other times. The project was completed on time and on budget in August 1996.
