KAMBAH ACT
Our
client was concerned to check the feasibility of a dual occupancy
on her block to house her daughter's young family. We quickly found
a number of possibilities for her to consider.
|
 |
HOOKER STREET,
YARRALUMLA ACT The
existing residence was to be demolished and two new houses constructed
on the site. The client was interested in "cutting edge" design that
picked up some of the recent redevelopment work in the area.

ALAWA STREET
WARAMANGA ACT
Two adjacent blocks have been developed as dual occupancies, giving
a small integrated housing grouping. Completed mid 2010.

MARIA PLACE,
LYONS ACT
The concept and
initial design for this landmark passive solar unit was undertaken by
Energy Partners, with our firm handling design development and documentation,
final approvals and contract administration. This unit featured fine
tuned siting and orientation for maximum solar access, trombe walls,
computer controlled shading and extensive grey water/rainwater storage
and recycling.

WILCOX PL , CHISHOLM
ACT
A dual occupancy development in Tuggeranong ACT. We were asked to design
a new house on the rear of the site, with three bedrooms and carport.
The site was approximately 984m2 which allowed 288m2 of GFA. Completed
late 2009.

CHARTERIS CRESCENT,
CHIFLEY ACT
One of our early
dual occupancy developments for ACT Housing Trust. The original 60s
vintage house was replaced by a pair of two bedroom units, with grouped
carports in the middle of the site.

|
MICHIE STREET,
WANNIASSA ACT
We were asked
to design a new house on the rear of the site, with three-bedrooms,
ensuite and carport. The site was approximately 977m2 which allowed
342m2 of GFA. The siting of the existing house, which was to be retained,
limited the size of the second house to a footprint of 125-135m2.

|
DENNY STREET,
LATHAM ACT
A new house was
designed for the rear of the 1,199m2 site with three bedrooms, ensuite
and double garage. The block lent itself to a side entry garage off
a driveway running along the southern boundary, with entry and bedroom
to the south, and living to the north side of the block. The existing
tree on the neighbouring block on the southern corner needed to be
taken into consideration with the design.

|
JULIUS STREET,
PEARCE ACT
Two new units in
an established suburb constructed for the ACT Government, with an adaptable
housing code compliant garden flat to the front of the site and a disabled
access three bedroom unit to the rear. The 910m2 site sloped 2.4 metres
from the back of the block to the street and presented considerable
difficulties in providing vehicle circulation.

|
|
KEYS CRESCENT,
WANNIASSA ACT
For this project
we designed two new houses of equal size with double garages, 3 bedrooms
each and ensuites. The kitchens and family rooms were to have east
or north orientation. The site was approximately 1,005m2, which allowed
352m2 of GFA. This allowed both houses to be 140m2 with a 36m2 garage.
|
|
|
HICKS STREET,
RED HILL ACT
The existing house
was a semi-detached building with a party wall along the boundary
to Block 47 and this presented considerable technical and planning
difficulties. In addition, the slope of the site, made it necessary
to have the houses semi detached and split level in part. The small
size of the block gave only a 478m2 building zone on this site, and
the client's brief stipulated each house at around 220m2 including
garages.

DOMINION CCT,
FORREST ACT
Seven luxury apartments

is complete and construction should begin in mid 2011.
